Sleeping Nomad

With this project, we aim to translate the unconscious and unrecognised dreams and stories and influences during our sleeping life into tangible dreams.

Knitted by voices and memory traces of different places and times, creating this space is a collective experiment about the embodied participation in co-creation of an sleeping nomadic landscape in an immaterial world. Through this we try to establish a different perception of what is interconnectedness. The changing states and movements during the whole sleep, both coming from the environment and the sleeper, are captured by non interfering technologies. The viewer is invited to enter the virtual dream-in-land to be part of a cross time-space collective dreaming experience.

The space has two inseparable worlds - Inner and Outer.

The Outer world is a collective body with dreams that was co-created with people’s dreams and lullabies in different languages collected during a few years in the Czech Republic, Spain, Germany, France, Malaysia and other places. While entering the fluid little bodies representing the dreams - you can focus on listening to one voice. These imaginary landscapes are the reminiscences of the particular places where they were collected.

While moving upward you can enter the Inner world represented by two big spheres.

In the Inner world you can focus on silence in day time, and during the night time you could listen to environmental sounds of two sleepers’ recorded at the same night in Alps and Greek island. It sounds every day from 00:00 to 09:00 a.m.

Two environmental sounds are captured in all directions(360 degree). The orientations of each soundscape are changing according to the body movements of the other side of the sleepers.
